Albertine Hopkins Mason
Retired teacher
Albertine Hopkins Mason, 76, Of 3726 Livingston St., a retired schoolteacher, died of heart failure Saturday at her home.
Services are 2 p.m. today at Mt. Helm Baptist Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Peoples Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Mason, a Hinds County native, was a member of Mt. Helm Baptist Church where she served as secretary. She received her early education in the Jackson public schools and held a bachelor's degree from Tougaloo College. She received a master's degree from the University of Cincinnati.
Mrs. Mason was a former longtime teacher at Lanier and Murrah high schools. She was a member of Mary Church Terrell, the Literacy Club, the Abi Holly Garden Club, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority and the American Federation of Colored Women.
Survivors include: son, Victor P. Mason of Jackson, and two grandchildren.
