Winston William Mason, 85, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 23, 2006 at the MS State Veterans Home in Jackson.
Visitation will be held after 9:00 a. m., Friday, October 27, at the Lakewood Funeral Home in Jackson, MS. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a. m. Burial will be at Lakewood Memorial Park on Clinton Boulevard.
Mr. Mason resided at the MS State Veterans Home in Jackson, MS for the past two months but had been a resident at Trace Point Retirement Center in Clinton for several years. He was born on March 12, 1921, in Brookhaven, MS. and had many fond memories of growing up in Brookhaven and enjoyed visiting as often as possible.
Upon his retirement , he had dedicated 35 years of service as a security officer at the MS State Hospital. Mr. Mason was a member of Oak Forest Baptist Church
He was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Lois Mason, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Mason, who were pioneer residents of the Union Hall Community in Lincoln County and his parents Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Mason of Brookhaven.
Mr. Mason is survived by his sister, Martha Mason Goble and three nieces and a very special friend of 10 years, Mrs. Rosemary Speir and her daughters. Even though he did not have children of his own, he was much beloved by the Speir family.
