Vida Loreen Mason Baas, age 96, died at her home in Excel, AL, Tuesday, May 25, 2010. She was born August 5, 1913, the daughter of the late Dr. William Allen and Louise Amos Mason. She was a member of the Excel United Methodist Church. Her favorite hobbies were fishing from the boat on the Alabama River with her son, and crocheting beautiful hand work for her family and friends. She continued those hobbies until the age of 94.

Mrs. Baas was preceded in death by her husband: Burney Preston Baas; brother: Lawrence Mason; sisters: Hilma Mason Coleman, Sue Mason Gwin and Gladys Mason. She is survived by her devoted son: Allen Preston (Susan) Baas, Excel, AL; one brother: William Angus (Truby) Mason, Brewton, AL; one granddaughter: Susan Loreen Baas (Grey) Bedsole; four great grandchildren: Landon Allen, Madelyn Grey, twins Rylee McCain and Reagan Kathryn Bedsole; two nephews and six nieces.

Memorial arrangements were made by Johnson Funeral Home of Monroeville. Private burial services will be held in the Excel Town Cemetery at a later date.
