On May 17, 1980, in Hilltop Lutheran Church, South Bend, she married her soul mate, Ricky "Bogie" Bogaert.

Jan is survived by her loving husband, Ricky; her son, Brian Patrick of Mishawaka; her daughter, Mandi (Bryan) Hardy of Mishawaka; her mother, Katie Mass of Mishawaka; two sisters, Karen Pratt of Elkhart and Bonnie (Bill) Fladeland of South Bend; a brother, Don (Bonnie) Mass of Mishawaka; her grandchildren, Branden Hardy, Morgan Hardy, Haley Patrick and Allison Patrick; and their mother, Margie Patrick; brothers-in-law, Greg and Nancy Bogaert of South Bend and Bradley "Bone" Bogaert of Mishawaka; her "BFF," Kathy Strombeck of FL; "The Bees," Connie, Brenda, Pam, Lea and Mimi; and her mother-in-law, Gerri Bogaert of Mishawaka.

Jan was always ready to help anyone who needed it, friends, relatives or strangers. She always had a smile and a quick joke for everyone, for she was everybody's best friend and everybody was her best friend. Her laugh was very contagious. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Her four grandchildren were the love of her life. Jan was employed by De Wald Fluid Power for 20 years and Fargo Assembly of Indiana.
