Hazel was the daughter of Frank Leon Dimmick and Ida May (Anderson). After her mother died in 1929, she went to live with her half great uncle, Richard Ichabert Anderson and his wife, in Blackstone, MA. When Hazel was married she listed her maiden name as Hazel May Anderson.

The funeral of Mrs. Hazel (Dimmick) Matthews, 51, of 31 Dewey St., Shrewsbury, who died Saturday in the Memorial Hospital after having been injured in an automobile accident in Shrewsbury on Tuesday, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Walter F. Kelly Funeral Home, 154 Lincoln St.
The Rev. Charles Austin will officiate. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Mrs. Matthews was born in Worcester, daughter of Frank and Ida (Anderson) Dimmick.
She was employed for many years as a ward maid at the Masonic Home, Shrewsbury.
Mrs. Matthews was struck by a car while crossing Route 9 at Elm Street Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Police said the car, traveling east on Route 9, was driven by Arthur Chivers, 40, of 62 Standish Circle, Wellesley Hills.
Mrs. Matthews leaves two sons, Gerald L. Matthews, of Avon, and U.S. Air Force Staff Sgt. Robert J. Matthews, who is stationed in Vietnam; a brother, Frank L. Dimmic[k] and an aunt, Mrs. Mabel Dunn, both of Worcester, and four grand children.
