FUNERAL
MRS. KATIE MAY BIRCH
The funeral of Mrs. Katie May Birch, of "Cherwell," Mangain, via Coolamon, who died at her residence on Tuesday morning at the age of 72 years, took place at Wagga yesterday afternoon. The cortege, which was a large and representative one, moved from the Methodist Church, Wagga, after a service conducted by the Rev. G. H. Carr, of Coolamon, and the Rev. Herbert Green, of Wagga. Mrs. Boswell officiated at the organ and played, "God Be With You," "Rock of Ages" and "Abide with Me." Interment look place in the Wagga cemetery, the Rev. Carr, assisted by the Rev. Herbert Green officiating at the grave side. The casket was carried by Messrs. W. T. Birch (son), A. Wesltndorf, A. A. Koetz, S. Pratt (sons-in-law), B. Birch (brother-in-law), and V. Rae (nephew). The pall bearers were Messrs. G. Pearse, F. Edis, B. Thompson, W. Har ris. O. Westendorf, E. Johnson. H. Chapman and J. Holliday. The floral tray, with many beautiful floral tributes, was carried by Messrs. H. Cox, Peter Hill, Frank Chapman and D. Hamilton. The chief mourners at the graveside were the bereaved husband (Mr. George William Birch), and Mrs. S. J. Pratt, Mrs. G. Payne, Mrs, A. A. Koetz and Mrs. A. Westendorf (daughters), Mr. W. F. Birch (son), Mrs. W. F. Birch (daughter-in-law). Messrs. S. J. Pratt, A. A. Koetz and A. Westendorf (sons-in-law), Mr. B. Birch of Cootamundra (brother-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. H. Cox, Misses Gwen, Noima Pratt, Eric, Edna and Pat Koetz (grandsons and granddaughters), and Arthur Payne (grandson), Mrs. George Mohr (sister-in-law). Mr. and Mrs. V. Rae, Mrs. Clyde Shaw, Miss I. Mohr, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chapman. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chapman, and Claude Chapman (nephew and nieces), Mr. J. C. Chapman (brother-in-law), and Mrs. A. Bolton (niece). Many friends were present from Ganmain, Coolamon, Mangain, Currarwarna, Malebo, Ladysmith, Corelnbob, Downside and surround ing districts. Noticeable among the many at the graveside were Messrs. Donohoe brothers, Mr. and Mrs. A. Matthews, Messn. Cecil Koetz, H. Westendorf, R. Weslendorf, A. Sharpe, A. Graham, Mrs. Bowen, Mia Charles, Messrs. Geo. Micklejohn and C. Moss, Mesdames F. Brentnall, N. Hall, Gilbert, Mepham, Williams. Fred Edis and A. Henseleit, Gordon Henseleit, and Mr. Thompson, Miss Gladys Westendorf, Mr. Harton, Miss Bonnie Westendorf, Mesdames H. Koete and Rapley, Mr. and Mrs. George Pearce, Mr. and Mrs. W. Harris. E. Johnson, Miss May Edis, Mrs. Norman Hall, Miss Dora Palmer, and many others. Among the many beautiful wreaths was one from the Methodist congregation of Currawama. Relatives unable to be present were Mr. Mervyn Pratt, Pte. Stanley Pratt, Mrs. Norman Barker, Mr. John Payne, and Mia V. Baker (great-grandchild). The funeral arrangements were conducted by Mr. J. C. M'Donald, of Wagga.
