He was born, September 16, 1927, in Harrison County to the late George H. and Edna Bailey Mayfield.
Billy retired from American Cyanamid after 40 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, horses, yard work and woodworking. He was a member of the Waverly United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Harley Mayfield (Cheryl) of Fairmont, WV and Carl Mayfield of Parkersburg; one brother, Norman Mayfield of St. Marys, WV; two grandchildren, Jessica Carlton (Josh) of Pittsburg, PA, William Mayfield (Becca) of Fairmont, WV and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Kelley Mayfield; two sisters, Mildred Sturm and Jean Reese.
Services for Billy will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna with Rev. John Frum officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Burnt Hill Cemetery, Williamstown, WV.
