Birdie Maynor was born May 19, 1900, though the family Bible says July 14, 1897, and died March 22, 1932, the daughter of Barton Maynor and Susie Smith Maynor. She married Alexander William (Alex Z. on his headstone) Bradford, son of Henry Bradford and his second wife Mollie Ledbetter, and they had these children:

Kenneth Bruce "Pooch" Bradford was born October 4, 1916
Henry Burns Bradford. Henry was born February 7, 1919
Dick Bradford, born February 7, 1921
Geraldine "Gerry" Bradford was born April 24, 1924
Virginia Sue Bradford, born November 8, 1926
Mary Nell Bradford, born December 24, 1928 in Jackson County
Laura Ruth Bradford born February 11, 1931

This family lost much in the tornado of 1932. According to Elizabeth Haas, Bertie and two of her daughters died in the tornado, which also killed many people in the Paint Rock Valley. A third child was wrapped in a mattress to protect it from the storm. The tornado drove the mattress into a tree and completely shredded it, but the baby survived. Alex Bradford survived the storm and had every stitch of clothes blown off his body and never recovered his senses. Mother and two daughters are buried together. Son Henry died three years later of pneumonia. Alex died in 1938 and is buried in Old Baptist Cemetery with his family.
