Carey E. Deem, 33, of Flora, died at 5:08 p.m., Thursday, February 17, 2011 in rural Flora.

She was born September 30, 1977 in Olney to Jerry and Gayla (Burnett) Mayo. She married Jeremy J. Deem on September 1, 2007 in Flora.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Clay City. Carey enjoyed reading, music, cross-stitching, and her friends. She was a gifted artist who enjoyed people and was an easy to know person.

She is survived by her husband: Jeremy Deem; parents: Jerry and Gayla Mayo; children: Jayda Tolliver and Isaiah Deem; step-sons: Cory and Trevor Deem; two sisters: Casey Armstrong and Jodi Fatheree; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Gary and Kathy (Phillips) Eskew; along with several nephews.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents (Clarence and Viola (Leach) Burnett) and paternal grandparents (J.W. "Casey" and Leone (Sullens) Mayo).

A memorial service was held at 7 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2011, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.

Memorial contributions were suggested to Jayda and Isaiah's Education Fund.
