Opal McAlexander Alexander
Funeral services for Opal Alexander, 83, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday October 29, 2005 in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors with Rev. Charles Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the Hickory Flatt Methodist Church Cemetery in Cedar Grove, TN. Mrs. Alexander died on October 27, 2005 at her residence in Rome, GA after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Carroll County, TN on May 15, 1922, the daughter of the late Floyd and Lerlin McAlexander. Mrs. Alexander was a homemaker, a beloved wife, mother, daughter and grandmother. She was very active in her church, having been a director of music programs and Sunday school teacher. She took pride in the hand crafted quilts which she made and generously gave to her children and special friends. Mrs. Alexander spent a great number of years in Perry, Florida where her husband was employed with Proctor and Gamble.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-five years, Clois Norman Alexander, three daughters, Brenda and husband Harry Odom of Rome, GA, Judy and husband Jim Freeman of Montgomery, TX, Rhonda Alexander of Mooresville, NC; one son, Floyd Alexander and his wife Misha of Birmingham, AL. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Walter, Paul and Clyde McAlexander of Madison, County, TN and one sister, Reba Franklin of Huntersville, AL.

Close members of the family will serve as pallbearers for the service.

The family has requested that memorials in lieu of flowers be directed to the Heyman Hospice, P. O. Box 163, Rome, GA 30162-0163.

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, October 29, 2005 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Arrington Funeral Directors.
