Margaret F. (McCarthy) Ahearn, formerly of Randolph and South Boston, died peacefully March 18, 2012, at Alliance Healthcare in Braintree, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 99. Wife of the late Edmund V. Ahearn, she was the loving mother of Robert F. Ahearn, retired Detective BPD, and his wife Ashley B. of Florida, Joseph L. Ahearn of Quincy, Paul D. Ahearn, retired Deputy Supt. of Boston EMS of Boston, Judy Ahearn of Randolph and the late Edmund V. Ahearn Jr.; dear grandmother of Robert J. Ahearn, John E. Ahearn, Catherine T. Hardy, Kimberly Bent, Laureen Flahive, Michael P. Ahearn and Timothy Farrell. Also survived by 10 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter. Margaret was the last surviving sibling of 11 brothers and sisters. Margaret was born in Boston and graduated from Gate of Heaven High School South Boston. She was a telephone operator for New England Telephone Co. for many years and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Reposing at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 419 North Main St., Randolph, until 9:15 a.m. Thursday, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Randolph. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Randolph.
