Crimean War Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Private in the 57th Middlesex Regiment, British Army. On June 23, 1855, at Sebastopol, Crimea, Private McCorrie threw over the parapet a live shell which had been thrown from the enemy's battery, saving the lives of his squad. For courage under fire, he was awarded the Victoria Cross Medal.
