Virginia Deloris Emig, age 75, of Port Huron, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Port Huron Hospital after a six-month illness with breast cancer. She was born June 25, 1932 in Mt. Clemens, MI to the late James and Thelma McCoy. She graduated from Mt. Clemens High School. Virginia became a nurse and later received an Associates of Arts degree from Port Huron Junior College.
She excelled in cooking and baking. At Christmas she would give over twenty plates of home-made candies and cookies to friends and relatives. She was always experimenting and improving cooking receipts.
Virginia was a member of the First United Methodist Church of St. Clair. She served as United Methodist Women's President, church committee member, and sang in the choirs. She believed very strongly in the words of the bible and read it often in its entirety.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 33 years, Lee; 2 sons, Robert (Jan) Rose of Dexter and Edward Rose of Wales, MI; daughter, Penny (Mark) Gray of Marine City, MI and stepdaughter Peggy Hayhurst of Sterling Heights, MI; 2 sisters, Ann Bevins of Rochester, MI and Betty Hunt of Mt. Clemens, MI; 4 grandchildren, Tom and Emily Gray of Marine City and David and Stephen Bunte of Dexter, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James and sister Ruth.

Visitation will be Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. at Young Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, China Twp. and Saturday from 10-11 a.m at the Church. Service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of St. Clair. The Rev. Don Gotham will officiate.

Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, St. Clair.

Pallbearers will be Addison Emig, David Emig, Duane Emig, James Knudson, Philip Thomas, and Rob Thomas.

Memorials may be made to the First united Methodist Church of St. Clair or the St. Clair Humane Society.
