Greenville Record-Argus, Thursday, Jul 5 1917:
On Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock, the marriage of Miss Gladys McCracken, daughter of Mrs. O. S. McCracken of Hadley, and Mrs. Joseph Carl Billig, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Billig of Sandy Lake, was solemnized. After the ceremony, a wedding breakfast was serviced at the bride's home, and the happy couple immediately left for a northern wedding trip. The bride is a popular young lady, a graduate of the Sheakleyville High School and the Slippery Rock State normal, and a teacher for two years. Mr. Billig is from Fredonia Vocational School. They will be at home at Mr. Billig's father's farm.

Gladys M. Billig, 91, formerly of 817 Buffalo St, died at 2:23 am Sunday in Venango Manor. Born Sept. 3, 1894 in Sheakleyville, she was a daughter of Oliver and Sophie McCracken.

She spent her early life in Sheakleyville, graduated from Sheakleyville High School and Slippery Rock Normal School, and taught in Polk schools until retiring in the early 1960s. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, and taught Sunday School for many years.

On June 27, 1917. she married Joseph Carl Billig, who died in 1960.

Surviving are a son, Paul R. Billig of Wickliffe, OH; a daughter, Mrs. Lester E. (Mildred) Harrison of Tucson; three grandchildren, Raymond L. Billig of Santa Monica, CA, Ronald D. Billig of Albuquerque, and Neil Harrison of Tucson; and four great-grandchildren. Deceased are a brother and a sister.

Services will be at 1 pm Wednesday in Huff Chapel with Rev. John Sass Jr., her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Cemetery, Polk.
