Mrs. Brooks, 36, Succumbs

Mrs. Betty L. Brooks, 36, wife of Vernon E. Brooks, Hillcrest Avenue, Polk, died suddenly at 12:15 a.m. Saturday in St. Margaret Hospital where she had been a patient for the past three weeks.

The daughter of William A. and Margaret McCullough McCracken, she was born in Oil City on October 30, 1924. Mrs. Brooks had lived in Polk the greater part of her life and attended the grade schools there. She was graduated from Franklin High School in 1943. She had been employed at the Polk State School for the past 10 years where she was a supervisor in the dietary department.

Mrs. Brooks was a member of St. Patrick's Church; and Court St. Thomas No. 1482, Catholic Daughters of America.

She was married to Vernon E. Brooks on April 26, 1943 who survives along with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William A. McCracken, Polk; three children, Patricia J. Brooks, William P. Brooks, and Gregory A. Brooks, all at home; and two brothers, Robert B. McCracken, Polk; and Benjamin Jack McCracken, Saegertown.

The body was removed to the Huff Chapel where friends may call and where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today. A requiem high mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Patrick's Church. Father Francis J. Kaltenbach, pastor, will be the celebrant. Interment will be made in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
