Lil was a graduate of Little Flower High School in Philadelphia. She was a longtime employee of Pathmark, retiring in 1994.
In her spare time, Lil loved to make crafts, sew, and bake. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and music. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Lil cherished her trips to Florida, the Jersey shore, casino trips to Atlantic City, and her home in the Poconos with her family and friends. Her family always came first.
Throughout the years, Lil was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and Riverfront Senior Citizens Club. Lil was extremely giving and always willing to lend a helping hand. Most of all, Lil will be remembered for her kindness and gentleness of spirit to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anna McGovern; brothers, Joseph and Edward (Mabel); sister, Helen; son, Joseph; and son-in-law, Don. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 64 years, Joseph; daughters, Barbara and Theresa; son, John (Renae); and daughter-in-law, Eileen.
