Mrs. DANIEL BARBER
Mrs. Marguerite A. Barber of 223 Maple St., widow of Daniel Barber, died late Thursday night at Putnam Memorial Hospital following a long illness. She was 77.
The daughter of Michael and Anna (Green) McGovern, she was born in Bennington July 28, 1894 and had been a life-long resident here. She attended local schools and had been active for many years, employed at the old Allen-A and E-Z plants and also at Thomas Mfg. Co.
She was a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church, a member of the Rosary Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1332 Auxillary.
Her neighborly kindnesses and assistance in time of need will be remembered. Her home and family had been her primary interest.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. John (Jane) Gygax; one grandson, William Gygax; a great grandson, Jeffrey James Gygax; an aunt, Miss Jane Green, and cousins. Her husband died in 1948.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 am with a prayer at Gibney Funeral Home, followed by the offering of the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial at 10 in St. Francis de Sales Church.
Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Saturday from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 pm.
Burial will be in the family plot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
