Daniel John McGovern, 62, of Lebanon passed away on Sunday at the Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital.
Daniel was born in Olympia, Wash., the son of John and Anita (Stull) McGovern. He has been a resident of the Mid-Willamette Valley for over 40 years. He worked as a Farmers Insurance Agent in Albany from 1980 until 1990. He owned and operated Dan McGovern Parking Lot Maintenance from 1989 until retiring in 2012. He donated his services to many nonprofit organizations in the valley. He also started several other businesses including Family Billiards and The Home Brew Shop both in Albany.
Dan enjoyed salmon and steelhead fishing and worked as a guide for several years. He also enjoyed upland bird hunting, golfing, muscle cars and playing pool. He was a member of the Mallard Creek Golf and RV Resort, the Spring Hill Country Club, Albany Gun Club and the N.R.A.
He is survived by a son, Tony and wife Rhonda McGovern of Sweet Home; stepdaughter Stacy Stabil and her daughters, Olivia and Faith of Sisters; brother Steve McGovern of Albany; sisters Cheryl Wedel of Scio, Debra Wiley of Albany and Connie Strupith of Corvallis; grandson Brian McGovern Salvati; and granddaughter Elena McGovern.
No formal services will be held. A private family gathering will be held at a later time.
