Grace Philomena Virginia McGovern Koechel passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at her home in Niceville, Fla., surrounded by love and family.
Grace was born to John McGovern and Philomena Henigin in Pittsburgh, Pa., on May 26, 1923. She grew up in Pittsburgh, was a WAC stationed in European war rooms during World War II, married Paul Koechel and raised a wonderful family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; sons, Paul Jr., and Gerard; as well as daughter, Teresa.
She is survived by daughters, Maryann (retired Col. Gregory C. Muntzner, USAF) and Carol; as well as five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Grace was truly a bright star and shining light to those who had the pleasure to know her. We love her and will always miss her.
A celebration of a life well lived will take place at Christ Our Redeemer Church in Niceville on Saturday, Jan. 3 2015 at 11 a.m. The family will receive visitors prior to the service at 10 a.m. A reception will immediately follow mass in the parish hall. Interment will be private at a later date.
