Mary E. (McGovern) McClosky of Beverly passed away Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at home. She left this life peacefully and surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on Nov. 9, 1932, in Chester, Pa. to Leo and Margaret McGovern. She was the oldest of five siblings.

She attended Saint Robert's School in Chester, and was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Moylan, Pa. After high school, Mary worked at Sun Oil Refinery.

In 1955, she married Lt. Joseph J. McClosky and they soon moved to Honolulu. Three years later, they returned to the states with their first two children, and lived in Levittown, Pa., before buying their family home in Levittown, N.J., now known as Willingboro. It was there that they settled down and raised their four children.

Mary was a loyal and devout communicant of Corpus Christi Church. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Seniors Club.

She enjoyed shopping for sales, gardening, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who brought her so much joy.

Mary worked for Rancocas Valley Hospital and retired after 30 years of loyal and devoted service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Margaret McGovern, her sister, Anne, and her brother, George.

Mary leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband of 54 years, Joseph; her children, Leo (Sara) of Delran, Greg (Gail) of Spanish Fort, Ala., Helen Pease (Rick) of Southampton, Joseph of Newark, Del., and Tanya McClosky. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Shannon, Joseph, Megan, Mary, Michael, Maggie, Kyle, Aly and Anna Rose. She also is survived by her loving siblings, Margaret Saiauskie (Edward), and Leo McGovern (Donna). Mary also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

She will always be remembered for her wit and charming sense of humor.

Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, Sunset and Charleston roads, Willingboro, where relatives and friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her name be made to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053.
