Diana Lynn Smith McGovern, 50, of Asheville passed away Thursday, September 16, 2010. She was born December 5, 1959 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Frank and Shirley Sullivan Smith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bill McGovern. In 1978, she graduated from Erwin High School, and was most recently employed at the Veteran Affairs Hospital in Asheville. She had an undying compassion for the welfare of animals, and was an avid painter. Surviving are her sisters, Margaret Worley and her husband Charles of Barnardsville and Jane Dirkers and her husband Jerry of Spokane, WA, and two nieces and two nephews.
