Beatrice Alice Meade, 86, passed away Wednesday April 16, 2008.

Before becoming a volunteer at Riverside hospital, Beatrice was employed at Langley Air Force Base. "Bea" loved to shop, and travel, and was an active member of the A.A.R.P. and the American Legion Auxiliary 0025.

"Bea" was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph T. Meade, and sons Tommy and Timmy Meade. Left behind to cherish her memory are her, daughters and sons-in-law, Judy & James Woodard of Hampton, Betty & Alton Gwaltney Sr. of Smithfield, brother and sister-in-law, Bill & Brenda Phillips of St. Paul, Va., sister Patricia Davis of Johnson City, Tennessee, seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 19, 2008 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the funeral Home.
