Olivia Meade Anderson, 79, of 1016 River Forest Place, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2004, at the Memorial Hospital in Martinsville.
She was born in Martinsville on April 28, 1925, to Henry J. Meade and Eliza Richardson Meade. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn M. Johnston, and a brother, Henry J. Meade Jr.
She was a graduate of Martinsville High School and attended Longwood College. She worked for John W. Yeaman and retired from DuPont as a secretary. She was a life-time member in the First Baptist Church of Martinsville and a charter member of the Chevis Horne Bible Class. She also maintained a residence in Sebring, Fla., where she was active in the Sebring First Baptist Church and was a 16 year member of the Spring Lake Women's Golf Club. She was a member of the Patrick Henry Garden Club; a past president of the Martinsville-Henry County Women's Club; a Red Cross volunteer who received the 30-year Grey Lady Pin; and long time member of the Women's Golf Association at Forest Park Country Club.
Surviving are her husband, Ike Lindow Anderson of the home, and a son, Steven T. Anderson of Martinsville.
A graveside funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. John Fulcher will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the home, 1016 River Forest Pl. Martinsville.
