Dorothy Mae Bigelow, 78, of Rockland, died at 11:20 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at the Oil City Presbyterian Home, where she had been a resident. Born Dec. 2, 1922, in Oil City, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Elsie Rembold Meade. Mrs. Bigelow was affiliated with the Rockland Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and volunteered with the Venango County Visiting Nurses Association. She enjoyed quilting and reading. She was married to Elery V. Bigelow, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Bigelow is survived by two sons, Jerry Bigelow of Pace, Fla., and Richard Bigelow of Oil City; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Harold Meade and Robert Meade, both of Van; and two sisters, Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Blauser of Van and Mrs. Dean (Katie) Miller of Seneca. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bigelow was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Meade. There will be no visitation. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Rockland Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Venango County Visiting Nurses Association or the Oil City Library. The Morrison Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
