James M. Meade Sr., 66, of Kingston, formerly of the Mountain Top area, died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Meade was born in Wilkes-Barre, a son of Rose Ginley Meade, Mountain Top, and the late Harry Meade. He attended St. Leo's High School, Ashley, and electrical trade school. He was a master electrician and owned and operated Jade Electric, Mountain Top, for some time. He was also a member of Local 163, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and was a police officer in Wright Township for several years.
"Jimmy" was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also played the guitar and was a member of the Crossroads Traveling Dart League. He will be sadly missed by his many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, James M. Meade Jr.; brother Robert Meade; and sister Janet Keefe.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are sons Jeff, Greg and Scott Meade, all of Kingston; brothers Thomas Meade, Cartwright, Okla.; Paul Meade, Mountain Top; and Harry Meade, Nanticoke; sisters Rose Ziminsky, Kingston, and Kathy Green, Mountain Top; grandson Jacob Meade; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude's Roman Catholic Church, Mountain Top, with interment in Albert Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements are by the H. Merritt Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 451 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre.
