A Funeral Mass for Cherie Demetriou, 46, of Muskegon, Michigan and formerly of Lancaster and Newark, Ohio will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 24, 2014 with Fr. Jonathan Wilson as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Cherie passed at the University of Michigan Hospital on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. She was born in Newark, Ohio on May 24, 1967 to Richard Mentz of Lancaster, and the late Louise (Simmons) Mentz.
Cherie is survived by her husband of 23 years, Marios Demetriou; her children, Katarina and Dimitris Demetriou; her father, Richard Mentz; her brothers, Rich and Neil Mentz; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones.
Cherie was a warm, generous, kind, loving person who gave all she had to this world and all those in it that had the pleasure of crossing paths with her.
She would do absolutely anything for anyone, without ever once thinking of what was in it for her. And they didn't even have to ask…she simply did it without a second thought. She gave freely of herself and she will be dearly missed.
Her light was one of the brightest shining ones any of us have seen…anyone who ever met her can attest to that. She was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, cousin, aunt, niece, and friend.
Friends and family may call from 4-6 P.M., Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 4:30 P.M.
