Lillian Mentz was born in Pusheta Township to John Mentz and Rosena Reeder. She married Christian Burk on February 6, 1908. They lived on his parents farm east of Wapakoneta. They had 4 children; Helen, Eugene, Katherine, and John. Katherine died from goiter at the age of 20, John died from appendicitis at the age of 19.
In 1936 they retired from farming and moved into Wapakoneta. Christian died in 1942. Lillian remained in the home in Wapakoneta and died there from a heart attack at the age of 80. She was survived by 2 children, 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Lillian was a member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ and the Women's Guild and Circle Two.
