On February 22, 1942, she was united in marriage to Raymond Appeldorn in Germantown, Iowa. After their marriage the couple farmed in the Paullina area. For 25 years Ella was employed at the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina and continued to help older people stay in their homes. The couple moved from the family farm into Paullina several years ago.
Ella passed away at the Orange City Hospital on Thursday, November 7, 2002, reaching the age of 80 years, I month and 28 days.
She was baptized on September 24, 1922, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Germantown and later confirmed on May 2. 1937, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina where she was currently a member, She was also involved in the Friendship Bible Study in Paullina.
Ella leaves to cherish her memory her hushand, Raymond of Paullina; one son and his wife, [redacted] of Paullina; two daughters and their husbands; [redacted] and [redacted] of Paullina; also seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters; [redacted], all of Paullina; one brother and his wife, [redacted] of Primghar; a step-sister, [redacted] of Sioux City; and a step-sister-in-law, [redacted] of Everly; also a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, Roger; parents; two step-sisters; Frieda Pauling and Lucille Hurtig; and three step-brothers; Ira, Ray and Reinhard Tesch.
