Jean F. Hines, 93, of Scipio, passed away at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Hines was born on January 21, 1920 in Scipio, the daughter of Willard and Vail Johnston Milholland. She married Homer P. Hines on October 29, 1938 in Elizabethtown. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2004.

Mrs. Hines was a farmer and homemaker. She was a member of Scipio United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Hands of Hope Ladies Group and a Sunday school teacher. She was a former member of Smiling Senior Citizens. She was a 1937 graduate of Scipio High School. She enjoyed painting pictures, gardening, cooking and baking, dancing and traveling.

She is survived by her four daughters, Darlene (Harry) Smith, and Anita (James) Galyen both of Scipio, Sandy (Tom) Smith of North Vernon, and Sheryll (Francis) Smallwood of Columbus; eight grandchildren, Deanna (Rex) Ford of Scipio, Dodie (Jay) Smith and Anthony (Kristie) Ayers, both of Columbus, Ashton Ayers of Elizabethtown, Jamie (Jeanne) Galyen of Seymour, Robert Galyen of Westport, Kelli (Paxton) Davis of Zionsville, and Kathryn (Liam) Roche of Indianapolis; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Cassie Miller of Scipio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Hines; a brother, Lowell Milholland; and a sister, Winnie Foist.

Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Scipio United Methodist Church with the Rev. Brad Miller and the Rev. Mona Safely officiating. Friends may call at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday the church. Burial will be in Scipio Cemetery.
