Age 77, Schoenstatt Father, died May 28, 1993 at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint. He was born June 6, 1915 in Pewamo, MI to Mathias and Elizabeth (Klein) Miller. Father attended elementary school at St. Joseph in Pewamo, MI and Most Holy Trinity in Fowler, MI. He attended high school at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit and St. Thomas School in Ann Arbor; he attended College in Milwaukee, WI and Pallottine Novitiate in Jessups, MD; he studied Theology at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and was ordained there May 18, 1944. After ordination, Father served at the Pallottine House of Studies, Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Brooklyn, NY, and Holy Rosary, Milwaukee, WI. In 1950 he was appointed Pastor at St Mary's Lakota, North Dakota until 1956. Then he conducted retreats and taught at various colleges in Wisconsin. In 1965 Father joined the Schoenstatt Institute. As a Schoenstatt priest he continued with retreat work and Schoenstatt counselling until 1969 when he was put on loan to the Diocese of Lansing. He assisted at St. Mary's in Westphalia; Holy Trinity, Fowler; St. Mary's, ML Morris; St Joseph, Howell; St. Mary's, Jackson; and St. Paul, Owosso. In 1974 he assisted at St Michael's in Flint and in 1981 he was an associate at St. John Vianney Church in Flint as well as Chaplain at Hurley and McLaren Hospitals in Flint until his hospitalization January, 1993. Besides his parents, Father was preceded in death by his brother, Father Aloysius, his sisters, Eleanor and Lillian, and brother-in-law, Ernest Boog. Father is survived by 5 sisters. Sister Marianne, S.S.J. and Sister Jeanette, S.S.J. both at Nazareth, MI, Edna (Arthur) Griffith of Pellston, MI, Martha Boog of Lansing, MI, and Rita (Roman) Simon of Fowler, MI; many nieces and nephews also survive. Vigil services will be prayed on Monday, May 31, at 3 p.m. and at 8 p.m. at the George Chapel of the Osgood Funeral Home in Fowler. Tuesday, June 1, there will be visitation in Most Holy Trinity Church, Fowler, beginning at 9 a.m. until time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. A second Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St John Vianney Church in Flint on Wednesday, June 2, at 11 a.m. Burial will be at ML Calvary Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI. Arrangements by the Osgood Funeral Home, St Johns, MI.
