Mrs. Avirett was born in Macon the daughter of the late Elizabeth Johnstone Miller and Boyce Miller. She was the widow of William Henry Avirett, Sr. and was preceded in death by her son, William Henry Avirett, Jr., brothers, Walter T. Miller and Boyce Miller, sisters, Cecilia Coleman, Elizabeth Lancaster, Doris James, and Eugenia Hansen.
Mrs. Avirett was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. She attended Mercer University where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Mrs. Avirett enjoyed fishing and looking for bargains at yard sales.
