Virgina M. Ireland Virginia M. Ireland of Brazil, age 89 died August 29, 2006 at Davis Gardens Health Center in Terre Haute.

She was born April 3, 1917 in Knightsville, Indiana as the daughter of William and Emma Roberts Miller. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1935 and continued her education at the Sherwood School of Music in Chicago until 1937. She earned her teaching degree from Indiana State University and her Master's degree from the University of Iowa.

She married Harley R. Ireland III November 28, 1942 in Brazil. Virginia spent over 20 years as a music educator serving schools in Marshall, Indiana, River Forest, Illinois and Vigo County, Indiana.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brazil where she had served as youth choir director and Vacation Bible School teacher, The Woman's Reading Club, Tri Kappa Sorority, Terre Haute Symphony musician and board member, Swope Art Gallery board member, Terre Haute County Club, and the Brazil Women's Golf League. She also performed as the cellist in a Terre Haute string quartet.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charles H. Ireland; her husband Harley on February 10, 2005; and one sister, Helen Lewis. She is survived by; three sons, Dr. Philip H. Ireland and wife Kathy of Indianapolis, Dr. Richard W. Ireland and wife Jo Ellen of Valparaiso and Donald Ireland and wife Genine of Terre Haute; seven grandchildren, Trad, Kyle, Kelly, Tristan, Jason, Shannon and Benjamin Ireland; daughter-in-law Janet Shull; one sister, Phyllis Scaglione of Brooksville, Florida and several nieces and nephews Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Brazil with Rev. Gary Scoggins officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of the Wabash Valley or the First Presbyterian Church of Brazil. visit www.moore-funeralhomes.com to send condolences to the family or for more information.
