Catherine Miller Amundson was born on June 24, 1880, at Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa, the daughter of Sam H. and Susan Taylor Miller. In 1898 as a young girl she came to Sunnyside living on the Sam H. Miller homestead. On August 6. 1902 she married Charles Otto Amundson in a ceremony at the Miller residence, Iva Miller and Ethel Yakey were witnesses. Their daughter Marie Catherine "Katie" was born May 17, 1903, a son Charles F. was born June 20, 1906 and was 3 years old at the time of the 1910 census. Their son Ray Millerd was born Aug 29, 1914, in Sunnyside, Washington.
