Karen L. Carlson (Mody), age 59 of Utica, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, surrounded by her loving family at St. Lukes Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Utica on December 17, 1946, a daughter of Frederick and Mildred Staring Carlson, and was raised and educated in Frankfort.
Karen was employed for many years with the HSBC Bank, formerly Marine Midland, where she enjoyed a long and dedicated career. She retired in 2005. Karen was known for her courteous and pleasant personality, which resulted in many loving and loyal relationships with her customers and co-workers throughout the years.
She is survived by her loving parents, Frederick and Mitzie Carlson; her sister and best friend, Miriam Kelsey, all of Frankfort; her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Anthony Barres of Utica; her beloved son, Richard A. Mody of Utica; her cherished granddaughter, Alexandrea Barres, who brought a very special joy into her life; and many nieces and nephews.
Karen loved her children, family and friends. She offered them affection and support, and always brought great happiness to all those around her. She was a beautiful person inside and out.
