Born on Wednesday, Died on Saturday.
Aged 72 years, 1 month, 2 days.

Anna McCleary was "missing" from the tree books for a long time, due to terrible misspellings of the name McCleary, and lack of notes kept after a certain time period.

Anna McCleary was born Anna Maria Momeyer, a daughter of German-born Wilhelm Momeyer, and his wife Eva Klein. An educated man, Wilhelm was an officer for the US in the Revolutionary War, after that was a school master, and appointed county tax assessor.

Anna was born in York, York County, Pa, and Christened at Christ Lutheran Church, York, York, Pa.

Her father wrote in the family Bible:
In the year 1794, on the 9th day of July at 8 o'clock in the morning the Lord again gave us a little daughter in the sign of the hunter. Christened on the 20th day of July and given the name of Anna Maria. Witness Leah Hertzell.

The Momeyers and others from that area migrated to Westmoreland County about 1797, mostly settled at first in Unity Twp, then around Adamsburg, then S. Huntington Twp. area.

Wilhelm recorded in a small leather bound notebook, which had been the Klein family's genealogical record book:
"Mary Momeyer was married December 12th, 1816 with John Mechlery."
-did not know how to spell the name properly, but he was old then and not well. Her father died 17 Jan 1817.

A Momeyer book that was published in 1933 had no information for her but a birth date and that she died age 72. So she was lost..

About ten years ago I managed to find Anna Mary and John, and their kids, but most the records have some very unusual ways to spell the name McCleary. They had a farm along Brush Creek near Adamsburg... a farm in Hempfield, seemed to go along down to Sewickly Twp. on the maps.

John and Anna's 7 children:
Elizabeth, (b.21 Jun 1817 d.23 Jan 1896 Sewickley, Westmoreland, Pa
Catherine (b.14 Aug 1819)
Jacob (b.23 Dec 1821 d.19 Nov 1894 Sewickley, Westmoreland, Pa)
Mary Anne (b.1825)
John/Johannes (b. Abt. 1826)
Sarah J. (b. Abt. 1829 d.15 Sep 1854 in Iowa
Susanna (b.Abt. 1832)

Sarah J.McCleary married Lucian Cort (18 Apr 1824-20 Mar 1905)

Jacob and Elizabeth never married, and lived on the family farm all their lives. When they died, their land was given to the church, to make a cemetery and a church.

A lot of Anna's relatives are in the Hoffman cemetery, near Smithton.

Additional information:
Anna was born in York County, and they have her birth recorded there.

But the place the Momeyers lived at, and she was born in York county changed in the early 1800s to the edge of Adams County. She was born in Berwick Township, York (Later Adams) county, and the town of York s close, but Abbottstown in (present-day) Adams County is the closest town; the chuch they went to is still in Abbottstown, and their infant son's grave is still there, in Abbottstown.
