Chris H. Momsen was born at Bedstedt, Schleswig Holstein, Germany November 28, 1868. He died Friday, September 26 at his home here following a lengthy illness.
During the past year Chris had been in failing health. He entered the hospital at Carroll in June and an unsuccessful tumor operation was performed. He returned to the home of his daughter Clara where he was bedfast for four months. He died Friday afternoon at 2:45.
In the year 1910 the family moved to Lake View from Dwight, Ill. During the 37 years that Chris lived in this community he was a faithful worker at the plasterers and mason trade. He was liked by all and was especially fond of the children who were always greeted by him in his friendly way.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1915, an infant son in 1914 and three brothers and two sisters.
Those surviving are a son, Otto, of near Sac City, a daughter, Clara, at home, three sisters, Anna C. Nelson of Lake View, Mrs, John Knudsen of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. George Haas of Chicago, Ill., one brother, Lawrence Momsen of Wilmington, Ill. also four grandchildren and two grest grandchildren.
He had attained the age of 79 years, 10 months and 28 days at the time of his death.
