MARYANN ELIZABETH COLLETTO, 73, of Stamford passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 24, 2011. Born February 8, 1937 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late James and Edith Gerardi Monaco. MaryAnn worked with her husband Andy and brother in law Raymond at City House Demolishing Company Inc. from 1963 until 1980. MaryAnn cared for children at the "Mom's Out for the Morning" and the "Aleph Bet Go" programs at the Jewish Community Center, in addition to working for their after school program and organizing birthday parties, with the help of her daughter Kim, from 1995 to 2006. She was loved and cherished as everyone's "Mom", "Mare Mare", and "Grandma". Most recently, she worked at her daughters business, BreakThru Fitness, where she did baby and child sitting in the Little Shoppe with her dear friend and business partner Teresa Ferrajina. She helped volunteer with Healing Hearts Pediatric Therapy Center, a non-profit organization her daughter helped found for children with special needs. As an avid animal lover, having many pets, she volunteered at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center caring for animals through the 1970's. She is survived by her husband Andrew Joseph Colletto Sr., children Samuel Raymond Colletto Sr. and his wife Nancy Ann, Andrew Joseph Colletto Jr. and his wife Valerie Jill, and Kimberly MaryAnn Colletto all of Stamford. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; Samuel Jr., Danielle, Jake and Noelle Colletto, several nieces and nephews, as well as her beloved Yorkie Amanda. Besides her parents, MaryAnn was predeceased by her brother William Monaco. Friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902 on Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 4:00- 8:00PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Monday, January 31, 2011 at 9:10AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00AM at St. Mary's RC Church, 566 Elm Street, Stamford, CT. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph's Mausoleum at St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in MaryAnn's name to Rippowam Animal Hospital, c/o Stamford Animal Control, 888 High Ridge Rd., Stamford, CT 06905.
