Charles A. Monnette, son, husband and father. A dealer in fine horses and farm stock animals, he was also a farmer in Marion County, Ohio. Married to Sarah Sweeney, daughter of Patrick and Mary (McAndrews) Sweeney. By his wife, he had three children, Alice Louise Monnette Dunn (Tom), Walter Monnette (Catherine) and Walter Monnette (Thelma). Born to the Methodist Episcopal Church, he later converted to the Catholic Church prior to his marriage. In death, he was survived by his children, and two sister sisters, Mrs. James Hamilton and Mrs. Emma Lott.

Note, the obituary posted by another Find A Grave user contains the spelling of name as Monnett. Beginning in the 1890s, various members of the Monnett family in Marion and Crawford Counties in Ohio began to use the spelling "Monnette". There is no pattern, or real record of formal changes to the name. In some cases one brother would adopt the spelling, while others did not. In general, however, the spelling Monnette seems to have been more popular in Marion County, than in Crawford County.
