Inomia Chavez, 90, a resident of Chama, New Mexico passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2011. She was a homemaker and owner/operator of the Silver Bar in Chama for many years. Inomia loved the outdoors (piñon picking), sewing, weaving and tending to her flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolfo Chavez; parents, Pedro and Beatriz Montano; sister, Teresa Gallegos; brothers: Melquades and Arturo Montano; daughter, Rosabra Quintana; granddaughter, Betty Jo Quintana; friend and partner, Jose J. Maez; son, Donald Gallegos. Inomia is survived by her sister, Corina Maestas of Hernandez; brothers: Frutoso (Joe) Montano of Farmington, Pete Montano and wife Frances of Cortez; daughters: Mabel Chavez of Chama, Chon Pacheco and husband Robert of Chama, Candie Martinez and husband Manuel of Chama, Chena Martinez and husband Theodore of Farmington; sons: Adolfo Chavez of Farmington, Joe Pat Chavez of Farmington, Ramon Martinez of Farmington; son-in-law, Manuel Quintana of La Mesilla; 36 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Chama. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Chama Community Church in Chama. Burial to follow at a later date at the Chama Cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers: Robert (Bobby) Pacheco, Manuel (Ringo) Martinez, Adolfo Chavez Jr. The family of Inomia Chavez have entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
