Josephine "Josie" Adele Montaño Alderete, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 31, 2016.
Josephine was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. Josephine was an avid reader, amateur New Mexico historian, Crusillista, a graceful dancer and a "Harwood Girls' School" graduate.
Josie was born on August 7, 1926 in Albuquerque, NM and raised in El Llanito and Martíneztown.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Nora Montaño, her husband of 54 years, Melquiades "Markie" Alderete and her infant sister, Victoria.
Josie and Markie leave behind a legacy of a large family.
Josie had seven sons and three daughters. Her family includes, Anthony and his wife, Mary, Charlie and his wife, Lucia, Joseph and his wife, Betty, Raymond and his wife, Cathy, Tommy and his wife, Marie, Therese, Kathy and her husband, Norberto, Philip and his wife, Jeanette, Florence and her husband, Michael and Steven. Josie had eighteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Words cannot express how much she will be missed and how blessed her family was to have her in their lives.
A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 Fourth St. NW, Albuquerque, NM. Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 9:00 a.m. also at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM at 12:45 p.m.
