Donna (James) Montgomery died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at her daughter's residence in Chanute, KS. She was born in Nebraska City and graduated from Nebraska City Senior High School. While living in Nebraska City, she was employed at Joe's Café and The News Press while still attending high school.
In later years while raising a family she worked at Montgomery-Ward and Lima's Army Store then moved to Omaha in 1962 where she was employed at Stauffer Chemical and H & H Chevrolet.
Donna's husband, Fred Montgomery, retired from the Air Force at Offutt Air Force Base and they moved to Texas in 1968 where they lived and worked until 1973 when they bought their first RV and started traveling over the United States and Canada. It was a very rewarding and enjoyable time in their lives which went on for 13 years.
The made their home in Hemet, CA in 1986. After Fred passed away in 1998 Donna moved back to Omaha in 2002.
Her parents, Robert and Florence James, brother, Bob James, and step-son Dennis Montgomery are deceased.
Survivors are daughter, Sandra McGranaghan of Omaha, NE, son, Jeffrey L. Eaton of Chanute, KS, and daughter, Marsha Jenkins of Chanute, KS; Step-daughter, Gail Montgomery Stone and husband Matthew of Sacramento, CA; sister, Betty Fuhrer of Lakewood, CO; several sisters-in-law; nephews, cousins, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
There will be no services. Donna will be interred with her husband at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.
Memorials in her name may be sent to Hemet Community Christian Church, 41762 East Stetson Ave, Hemet, CA 62544 where they attended church for 16 years. Memorials can also be made to Alzheimer's Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090 or online at www.alz.org.
