Mrs. Mary A. Chew, widow of the late Dr. Joseph Chew, once a well known physician of this city, died suddenly at her home, No. 1005 Locust street, yesterday morning, April 13, 1894. A congestive chill was the cause of her death. She was 68 years of age and left four children, Mrs. W. W. Morris and Mr. R. L. Chew, of Montana, and Mrs. T. H. Sandford and Mrs. W. B. Morehead, of this city. The funeral services will be held at the First Christian church the afternoon of April 15th at 3 o'clock Rev. Dr. T. P. Haley officiating. Burial at Union cemetery.

Mrs. Chew's maiden name was Mary Moore and her birthplace was in Kentucky. Her parents moved to Missouri when she was about six years of age. She married Dr. Chew in Richmond, Mo., about fifty years ago. Their first home was in Richmond. At the beginning of the war the family moved to St. Louis, where they remained until 1864, when they came to this city. Ever since that year Mrs. Chew has been a resident of this city. Dr. Chew, who was at one time city physician, died about eleven years ago.
