HIGHLAND — Magdalene M. McGuire,
age 96, of Highland, Wisconsin, died
on Monday, July 22, 1991, at
Bloomfield Manor, Dodgevllle, following
a long illness. The former Magdalene
Moore was born December 6, 1894, In
Benton, Wisconsin, to John and Elizabeth
(Powell) Moore. After graduating
from the Rlchland Normal School, she
was an elementary teacher In South
Dakota and the Clyde and Highland
areas. She moved to Highland In 1916,
and in 1918 she married Leo "Pickles"
McGuire. She than became a licensed
funeral director and together the couple
operated the McGuire Funeral
Home in Highland for over 50 years.
She was a member of Saint Philips
Catholic Church and Alter Society, the
Highland Womens' Club, Royal neighbors
of America, The Highland American
Legion Auxiliary, and the Highland
Senior Citizens. She was also a
Goldstar Mother and had been Highland
Bicentennial Queen. She was preceded
In death by her parents, her
husband "Pickles" on December 10,
1960; two sons Emanuel, in 1944, and
Urban, on July 25, 1989; a daughter
Joan Egan, on August 23, 1959; three
grandchildren; a great grandchild; four
brothers; and three sisters. Magdalene
In survived by three sons; Harold
(Letta) of Las Vegas, Nevada; Ron
(Betty); and Dave, both of Highland;
two daughters, Mary (Clayton)
Gundlach of Mineral Point, and Rosemary
(Jerome) Laufenberg of Highland;
a son-in-law, Joe Egan of Highland;
a daughter-in-law, Dolly McGuire
of Highland, 50 grandchildren, 86 great
grandchildren, and 11 great, great
grandchildren.
