Sylvia Victoria Moore Garrett or "Vickie" as she was affectionately known as, was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on October 5, 1949 to Ernest and Bertha Moore She was the third of four siblings born to that union. She left this life earthly to join the Lord on Saturday, November 15, 2008. Her father Ernest Lee Moore preceded her in death.
Sylvia was a graduate of Central High School, attended Penn Valley Community College and was a graduate of University of Missouri, Kansas City. She retired from USDA July 3, 2008 with 41 years of dedicated government service. Sylvia was meticulous in every respect.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and was a devout Catholic, having reverence for the Lord in her daily activities. In 1988, she joined the ETA PHI BETA Sorority-Sigma Chapter and served as secretary, historian and treasurer during her active membership. Sylvia was a member of the L&M bowling league and attended annual tournaments within the state of Missouri. She was also a lover of the theater and enjoyed the plays held at the Missouri Repertory Theater.
She leaves to reflect on precious memories her son, Kenneth Robert Garrett III (Trey) Bertha Moore, mother; Sharon Crowley, sister (Floyd); Ernest Lee Moore III, Robert Lee Moore (Nadine), brothers; Jesse Colman, Geraldine Kiser, aunts; Teresa Crowley, Melissa Moore, Ayisha Moore, nieces; Ryan Moore, nephew; and Henry Coleman, cousin. She will be greatly missed by her host of friends and family who will also be reflecting on the memories of Sylvia. We will cherish Sylvia's strength, devotion and love for family forever.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, at The Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at St. Elizabet's Church, 75th & Main St., Kansas City, MO. Entombment will be at Mt. Moriah Mausoleum.
