Dorothy Jean ''Dottie'' Moorehead, 66, died March 9, 1996, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A visitation was held with a funeral at Evergreen Memorial Chapel,downtown. The Rev. William Burke officiated. Her ashes were scattered by her family.

Mrs. Moorehead was born May 29, 1929, in Puyallup, Wash., to Maude and Conner Turner. She came to Alaska in 1954 and lived in Anchorage until moving to Seward in 1962. She also lived in Kodiak, Kenai and Soldotna before returning to Anchorage in 1972. Mrs. Moorehead worked in the food service industry for several years and particularly enjoyed working at the Riverside House in Soldotna during the '60s and Club Paris in Anchorage during the '70s and '80s. She was a member of the Catholic Church, the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1534, and the Pioneers of Alaska, Auxiliary No. 4. According to her family, Mrs. Moorehead was an avid bowler. She loved to dance and enjoyed watching her grandchildren participate in sports activities. They said, ''Dottie was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend, with the gift of being a people person. She was accepting of everyone. Dottie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.''

Mrs. Moorehead is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Vicki Coleman Jr. of Kenai; daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Charlie Henley of Kenai, Connie and David Whitfield of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Debbie and Larry Bouwens of Anchorage; brother, Richard Turner of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Ruth Abbott, Bernice Moore, and Martha Strout, all of Tacoma, Wash.; grandchildren Buddy, Larry, Darrin, Bryon, C.J., Kyle, and Connie, and grandchildren and spouses, Kimberly and Kurt, and Kelly and Jeff. Mrs. Moorehead's family requests memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association or the Alaska Heart Association. Arrangements by Evergreen Memorial Chapels.
