Carole Morgan Ball, 59, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo after a one-week illness. She was born Nov. 28, 1943, in Pontotoc County. She graduated from Pontotoc High School, and received her B.A. degree in education from Mississippi State University and her master's degree from the University of Mississippi. She taught elementary education at Green Street for two years and retired from Thomas Street Elementary School in 1998 after 23 years service there. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. She was an active member of West Jackson Street Baptist Church. She was a member and teacher of the Circle of Friends Sunday School Class; chairman of the Women's Ministry Mission and Happy Hearts Senior Group; a participant in the Monday morning Bible study, the card ministry and the prayer ministry; a former teacher of children and youth Sunday school classes; and a Bible drill leader and Vacation Bible School leader. She was a volunteer at the Lee County Baptist Association Food Pantry and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. She was dedicated to Bible study, and serving and helping others. Her hobbies included reading, walking, bird watching, photography and growing flowers.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the West Jackson Street Baptist Church with Bro. Bert Harper and Bro. Jimmy Henry officiating. Graveside committal services will follow at Lee Memorial Park with Bro. Don Trammel officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Louidean Ball of Tupelo; a daughter, Felecia Ball of Tupelo; a sister, Lougene Boland and husband, Don, of Pontotoc; two nieces, Jennifer McGreger and Joanne Poole; a nephew, Steve Boland; three great-nieces; six great-nephews; numerous cousins; an uncle, Reno Brown and wife, Louise, of Bartlett, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Davis, Ernest Gunter, Marvin Hoard, Ken Pickens, Scott Mattox, Wade Bivens, Steve Hickman, Tommy Vickers, Derril McKnight, Raymond Moody and Bill Spencer.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Circle of Friends Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Monday at the church.
