Anna Bell Atkins

Tupelo– Anna Bell Atkins, 87, passed away, January 14, 2017, at Traceway Retirement Center.
She was born on May 5, 1929, in Lee County, to Guy and Jessie Mae Morgan. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking for her family. Anna worked at BancorpSouth for 40 years until her retirement. She was a longtime and faithful member of Harrisburg Baptist Church and taught the four-year-old Sunday School Class for 45 years. Anna later served as a daycare worker at Harrisburg after her retirement.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. David Langerfield officiating. Burial will follow at Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Sam Atkins; two sons, David Atkins and Sammy Atkins (Nita); four granddaughters, Sonya Burnett (William) of Saltillo, Shea Wright (Kevin) of Trussville, Alabama, Beth Howe (Jonathan) of Lebanon, Tennessee and Keri Hatfield (Josh) of Fulton; 11 great-grandchildren, Blake Burnett, Bryce Burnett, Bennett Wright, Anna Kate Wright, Ethan Howe, Parker Howe, Micah Howe, Avery Howe, Caleb Hatfield, Clay Hatfield and Addison Hatfield; one nephew, James Petty; one niece Diane Dobbs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Morgan and Jessie Mae Morgan; one sister, JoAnn Petty.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Wright, Josh Hatfield, Ethan Howe, James Petty, Blake Burnett and William Burnett.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2017, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
