Obit - "Kathryn M. Allen of Matamoras, PA and a long time resident of the area died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at home. She was 95.

She was born March 16, 1916 in Kane, PA, the daughter of the late Mack and Eugertha Everitt Morley. Kathryn was married 47 years to George R. Allen.

She was the owner and operator of the Polar Bear Ice Cream Stand in Matamoras with her husband for 15 years. She worked as a teacher of history and English at the Delaware Valley School District and librarian for the Anna S. Kuhl Elementary School in Port Jervis, NY.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Port Jervis, where she was on the Board of Deacons; a volunteer for the Neversink Valley Area Museum and the Retired Teachers Assoc.; an accredited hospice volunteer for Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties; a volunteer at the Pike County Office of the Aging; Meals on Wheels; Safe Homes of Orange County; an accredited literacy volunteer; a Salvation Army Advisory Board member; and a soup kitchen volunteer. Kathryn also, with good friend Rev. Carl Curtain, started a Clown Ministry.

A family statement read: 'Mom was a caring and generous person who helped so many in a variety of ways. She will be greatly missed.'

Surviving are sons: Daniel and wife, Kathleen, of Shohola, PA, Lawrence Allen and wife, Barbara, of Clemson, SC; daughter, Karen Ehasz, and husband, Stephen, of Bloomsbury, NJ; brothers: Franklin P. Morley of Frankford, IA, Mack Morley, Jr. and wife, Susan, of Glen Spey, NY; sisters: Marion Mackey of Frankford, IA, Maude Morley and husband, George of Ulysses, PA; brother-in-law, Donald Perry of Greenville, SC; grandchildren: Tauni Butterfield, Stephen Ehasz, Timothy Ehasz, Robert Ehasz, Nichole Allen-Hickey, Ashley Helgeson, William Ehasz, and Kristen Procopio Allen; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by brother, J. Everett Morley; and sisters: Edith Davis and Mable Perry.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28 at 3pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Port Jervis, 8 North Broome Street, Port Jervis, immediately followed by food and fellowship.

A burial of cremains will be in Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY at the convenience of the family.
