" TRANSYLVANIA SS was a British Steam Passenger Vessel of 14,348 tons built in 1914....
Commisioned as a troopship in May 1915 with accommodation for 200 officers and 2,860 men and taken owver by the Anchor Line (Hendersen Bros), Glasgow.
On the 4th May 1917 she was torpedoed by German submarine U-63 off Cape Noli
(40 miles from Genoa) and sank with heavy loss of life. .....
Lt. Brennell, one other officer and ten men of the crew, 29 military officers
and 373 other ranks were killed."

Master was Captain SAMUEL BREUELL, (57),Royal Naval Reserve,
Capt. Breuell was picked up in an exhausted condition and died in a hospital ashore
