U.S. construction executive. Co-founder (1912), president (1943-1960), and chairman (1960-1968) of the Morrison-Knudsen Co., Inc., one of the world's largest contracting firms. Under his direction the company built the giant Hoover Dam on the Colorado River, major parts of the Grand Coulee Dam on the Columbia, and the St. Lawrence Seaway.
